Arise Foundation, formerly known as Arise Help for Child Foundation, is a Bangladeshi community action organization founded in September 2019 with a clear mission: to uplift underprivileged children and their communities. The foundation addresses fundamental needs, focusing on critical areas such as healthcare, access to clean water, proper sanitation, adequate nutrition, and vital environmental sustainability initiatives. Through its comprehensive and multifaceted approach, Arise Foundation strives to empower young Bangladeshis, paving the way for a healthier and more educated future generation. Furthermore, the organization actively promotes gender equality and fosters economic growth within the communities it serves. A key aspect of their work also involves equipping communities with the knowledge and resources to effectively tackle the pressing challenges of climate change. These diverse and interconnected initiatives contribute significantly to the achievement of multiple Sustainable Development Goals, generating a widespread and positive ripple effect of change throughout Bangladesh.

Md Nur Hashem Badhon has dedicated over four years to professional development work, demonstrating expertise in program implementation, comprehensive monitoring, and effective stakeholder engagement. His career goal is to secure a mid-level position within a climate-focused Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) where he can leverage his solid academic foundation, including a Bachelor's degree in Geography and Environmental Science, a Master’s in Development Studies (currently in progress), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management. Fueled by a passion for youth empowerment, insightful social research, and evidence-based initiatives, Nur aims to make significant contributions to sustainable and inclusive growth by strategically developing and evaluating impactful projects alongside effective advocacy efforts.
As a committed Development Professional at BRAC's Skills Development Programme, Md Nur Hashem Badhon has been instrumental in enhancing sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable populations. His work aligns closely with the objectives of initiatives such as the 'Climate Bridge Fund,' which supports climate-displaced and at-risk urban communities. Nur possesses a strong understanding of how skills development can lead to tangible economic outcomes. By fostering partnerships with employers and aligning training with market demands, he directly contributes to building the resilience of individuals facing economic hardship—an essential factor for communities vulnerable to climate change and potential displacement, such as those targeted by the Climate Bridge Fund in Rajshahi. His experience in conducting market surveys to identify pertinent training needs and engaging with communities in flood-prone areas to promote climate-resilient skill development showcases a proactive approach to addressing the vulnerabilities faced by climate-affected populations. Furthermore, his efforts in providing soft skills training to numerous youth equip the next generation with crucial tools for navigating an evolving world. Nur's dedication to BRAC's Skills Development Programme enhances the adaptive capacity and economic stability of vulnerable individuals, reflecting the core objectives of the Climate Bridge Fund in supporting communities in regions like Rajshahi.
Before joining BRAC, Md Nur Hashem Badhon served as a Management Trainee Officer at PKSF ECCCP-Flood within the Eco Social Development Organization (ESDO). In this role, he played a key part in implementing various project activities aimed at fostering climate resilience within marginalized communities. He led the creation of Climate Change Adaptation Groups, empowering local populations to devise and implement their own strategies for adapting to environmental changes. His responsibilities included coordinating the construction of elevated homesteads to improve living conditions for families in flood-prone areas and connecting individuals with environmentally friendly business opportunities to promote sustainable livelihoods. Additionally, Nur oversaw the distribution of climate-resilient agricultural demonstrations and facilitated training for numerous beneficiaries through comprehensive climate change workshops, significantly enhancing their understanding and adoption of adaptation strategies. His organizational skills were further exemplified through his coordination of diverse workshops, meetings, and events focused on various developmental issues, ensuring their effective execution. Nur also extended his expertise by training tea farmers in adopting new technologies and sustainable practices, contributing to the long-term viability of their livelihoods amid environmental challenges. His work at ESDO clearly reflects his commitment to building climate resilience and enhancing the adaptive capacities of marginalized communities.
Through his volunteer experience as a Senior Operation Executive (Campaign and Activation) at Alokito Kori NGO (formerly known as Volunteers Opportunities), Md Nur Hashem Badhon gained substantial experience leading impactful community-based initiatives. During his three years there, he spearheaded a Consortium Project in partnership with the Sajida Foundation, successfully improving community engagement and fostering accountability across five districts. He also exhibited exceptional leadership by managing a large team of volunteers.
Importantly, Nur directed multiple climate change and resilience campaigns across various districts, funded by ActionAid Bangladesh. These campaigns were vital in promoting environmental awareness and enhancing disaster preparedness within vulnerable communities, focusing on building local capacity to understand and adapt to the effects of climate change. Moreover, Nur played a key role in establishing collaborative partnerships with significant organizations, including the Manusher Jonno Foundation and ActionAid Bangladesh. These strategic alliances amplified the reach and effectiveness of his initiatives aimed at fostering climate adaptability and resilience at the grassroots level. His experience at Alokito Kori NGO underscores his commitment to community-led action and his ability to mobilize resources and partnerships for climate-focused interventions.
His dedication and leadership have garnered significant recognition. Nur is a proud member of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust and has represented youth leaders at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change alongside 45 peers. He was honored at the International Leaders’ Summit and Awards, recognized among 950 international youth. These achievements reflect his commitment to and impact in the fields of development and climate action.
In pursuit of his Master's in Development Studies, Nur also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management (NGO & Development) from the Academy of Business Professionals (ABP) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography & Environmental Science from Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur. His robust academic background, extensive practical experience, and unwavering passion position Md Nur Hashem Badhon as a committed and capable leader dedicated to driving positive change for a sustainable and inclusive future.
